Understanding the revision process: How many changes can you make?

Architectural design often involves multiple revisions. Here’s how to make the most of each round:

Know Your Revision Limits

Most architecture studios include a set number of revisions in their contracts. Exceeding this limit can incur extra fees. At Landmark Design, we do not charge per revision - we revise until you are happy. If we reach revision 10, it is likely we didn’t listen correctly to start with, so we listen and work with you; to get it right.

Gather Comprehensive Feedback

To minimise rounds of revisions:

  • Involve all stakeholders early.

  • Review plans thoroughly before requesting changes.

Understand the Impact of Revisions

Some changes are easier than others:

  • Minor adjustments (window placement, material changes) are simpler.

  • Structural changes (moving walls, adjusting foundation plans) may require significant redesigns.

Knowing how revisions affect cost and timeline helps streamline the process.
